Veneers are thin laminates designed to cover the front surface of your teeth. They are used to improve your smile since they are custom-designed shells of tooth-like ceramic material that covers worn tooth enamel, discolored teeth, uneven tooth alignment or spacing and chips/cracks.

Dental veneers are part of cosmetic dentistry because they cancreate a bright, white smile with beautifully aligned teeth . Cosmetic dentists may use one veneer to restore a single tooth or multiple veneers to create a “Hollywood” makeover.

What are Veneers good for?

  • Worn enamel: Over time, your teeth’s enamel may become worn, dulled, and discolored, due to a genetic issue or as a result of every day habits.
  • Wear and tear: Teeth naturally wear down as people age, causing teeth to be more likely to have chips, cracks or a generally uneven appearance.
  • Gaps: Spaces or gaps between your teeth can be easily closed with veneers, giving you a more uniform-looking smile.
  • Genetics: Certain people may be born with unusual spacing between the teeth or with other genetic traits like worn enamel, crooked teeth, etc.
  • Uneven/ crooked teeth: Veneers can resurface teeth to make them look straighter and even.

Veneers, in addition to being esthetically pleasing, can also serve a functional purpose by protecting the surface of a damaged tooth.

What types of Veneers are there?

There are two main types of dental veneers; composite , which is directly applied by your dentist at the dental office, and porcelain , which is fabricated in a dental laboratory.

Of the two options, porcelain veneers are of a higher quality and create a more enhanced and longer lasting appearance. On the other hand, composite veneers are becoming more popular as they are easier to repair.

How long do dental Veneers last?

Porcelain veneers will usually last between five and ten years , while composite veneers lasta year or two at most. The bottom line is that your veneers will eventually need to be replaced. Although veneers are strongly attached into place, there have been cases where they become loose and fall. In such situations, it is very important that you keep hold of your veneer and contact us immediately. To make your veneers last longer, follow a good oral hygiene program and visit your dentist for regular check ups. Our new Miracle Mile office is available for any dental procedure or repair you need.

How long will the procedure take?

A veneer takes at least two visits : the first one is to prepare the tooth and to match the shade/color, and the second to fit it. Before bonding it, we will show you the veneer on your tooth to make sure you like it. Bonding a veneer in place is done with a special strong adhesive, which holds it firmly on the tooth.
